University Farm Biodiversity Challenge

Can you help find 100 species at the University Farm? Join in an exploration of biodiversity at the University Farm on Saturday, April 28. From 12:45 to 5 p.m., participants will walk the trails at the University Farm and use the free biodiversity app, iNaturalist, to document plants, animals, and fungi.

No previous experience is required. Event leaders will show you how to use iNaturalist to document and identify the living organisms in the environment around you.

All observations made at the University Farm will be added to Cleveland’s entry into the City Nature Challenge. The City Nature Challenge is a friendly competition between cities to document local biodiversity. This is Cleveland’s first year participating in the City Nature Challenge, and Cleveland will be up against 60 other cities around the world.

Free transportation from campus to the University Farm is available for CWRU students, but seats are limited.

RSVP or direct questions to Mike Benard via email (mfb38@case.edu). RSVPs are required by Wednesday, April 25. After you RSVP, you’ll receive information on how to sign up for iNaturalist and what to bring to the event.
