Submit an original piece to be featured in fall production 2020 (hindsight)

While this semester is different, the Department of Theater invites all Case Western Reserve University students to reflect on their experiences in a unique way.

2020 (hindsight) is a world premiere original play written by students. CWRU Students are invited to write personal essays for a live Zoom performance of the production, which will be held from Thursday, Nov. 12, to Sunday, Nov. 15.

The Department of Theater seeks 10-20 short autobiographical pieces about students’ mindsets/experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. These pieces can explore a variety of topics, including—but not limited to—your experiences during quarantine, Black Lives Matter, Pride Month and/or coming back to a socially distanced CWRU campus. Writers and performers are welcome, as well as writers who would like someone else to perform their pieces.

Students are encouraged to explore storytelling genres. Essays, poems, videos, songs and experimental pieces are all encouraged. Students can submit pieces through Canvas by Wednesday, Sept. 30. Performers will need to audition over Zoom from Monday, Oct. 12, to Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Visit the Canvas page for contact information, guidelines and more details on how to get involved. Essays will be co-edited and curated to create a cohesive theatrical experience.
