Learn about social media’s place in research at Nov. 12 session

social media iconsThe Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (PRCHN) will continue its seminar series with a presentation by Mary Step, assistant professor in family medicine at School of Medicine. Step’s presentation, titled “Conducting Research with Social Media – Opportunities, Resources and Pitfalls” will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from noon to 1:15 p.m., on the ground floor of the BioEnterprise Building.

Step will discuss opportunities and pitfalls of using social media in research, citing her research on the subject. She also will discuss how young people use these social media technologies differently than middle-aged adults, as well as strategies in sample selection and differing kinds of coding units.
