Aren’t you all observant? Nearly everyone who guessed where this week’s photo was taken was correct: the sundial on Mather Quad.
A sundial has been a fixture on the Mather College campus since 1906, a gift of the College for Women Class of 1896. But this one—located just east of Guilford House—was installed in 1986. As you can see, its sides are inscribed with images and the name of every astrological sign.
This sundial is not to be confused with the one located in front of Thwing Center, which was donated in 1983 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Case Western Reserve University Medieval Culture Society.
