The global pandemic has been a challenge to both individuals and institutions. However, the university’s Wellness Program has seen a silver lining.
“Because we are offering all of our classes via Zoom, we have been able to impact a much greater number of faculty and staff,” shares Wellness Manager Mary Ann Dobbins. “The Zoom approach has allowed those who normally would not be able to get away from their desk and travel to an onsite class, the option of tuning in right at their workstation, whether that is on campus or at home.”
In addition, because the sessions are recorded, registrants who cannot make every session live, have the opportunity to view the content later.
“Those who watch the recording later are encouraged to mark that as their attendance for the session,” Dobbins continues. “So more and more people are able to earn their Wellness Program Incentive.”
Some series, like the two financial wellness classes occurring now, have about twice the number of registrants than would normally be able to attend.
Upcoming series in stress management, nutrition and more, will continue to be offered via Zoom. With almost unlimited room for faculty and staff to register.
“It has been a challenging year,” Dobbins said, “but the wellness team feels very positive that more and more people will access these programs.”
