Join the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program for an in-person lecture on Cleveland’s baseball history Friday, July 15, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Beachwood facility (25700 Science Park Dr.).
Author and baseball historian Scott Longert will present “Victory on Two Fronts: The Cleveland Indians and Baseball Through the World War II Era,” based on his book of the same name.
Beginning with the Cleveland Indians’ hard luck during World War II, this lecture will follow the team through its historic role in racial integration and its legendary postwar comeback. Longert will cover Cleveland baseball and the World War II years, 1941–1945, continuing through the pennant winning season of 1948.
