University Farm to offer “ABCs of Honey Bees” course

Two people beekeepingUniversity Farm will offer another installment of its “ABC’s of Honey Bees” course Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 37125 Fairmount Blvd. in Hunting Valley.

Course instructor Richard Manley, University Farm beekeeping consultant for more than four years and board of health inspector for Geauga County, will cover all aspects of beginning beekeeping, honey bee biology and diseases and hive management. Students will be able to participate in hives inspection, including observation of brood, honey and pollen cells, weather permitting.

The course is $70 per participant; a minimum of five participants is required to offer the course.
