University community shows excitement for SpringFest and more

The end of the semester is rapidly approaching, and with it comes plenty of events to celebrate university community’s hard work all year. In this week’s connect poll, we wanted to know what events students, faculty and staff were most excited for: Research Show CASE, Relay For Life, SpringFest, Hudson Relays or commencement. The results show that the university community has their sights set on one event in particular—SpringFest.

SpringFest, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, racked up 52 percent of the vote. The student-planned event features musical performances (including national headliner Hoodie Allen), inflatable attractions, novelty games, food and student organization booths.

The time-honored tradition of the Hudson Relays came in second in the polling at 16 percent. The race, which honors the school’s move from Hudson to Cleveland in 1882, began in 1910 with a 26-mile course from the campus of Western Reserve Academy to Adelbert Hall. In 1990, the race became a relay in a closed-course within University Circle. This year’s relay falls on Saturday, April 25.

Relay For Life, the third most popular event according to our poll, received 13 percent of the votes. The relay, which is hosted by the university’s chapter of Colleges Against Cancer, aims to celebrate the lives of cancer survivors, remember those who have lost their lives and to fight back against cancer by raising funds for research. This year’s 18-hour event is April 18-19.

Research ShowCASE and Intersections poster session, which is an event that features the work of hundreds of researchers, scientists and scholars, received 11 percent of votes. The daylong event is today (April 17.) Learn more at research.case.edu/ShowCASE/index.cfm.

Finally, commencement, which is Sunday, May 17 this year, had 7 percent of votes. Find out more about this year’s commencement, including a schedule of events and visitor information at case.edu/commencement/index.html.
