Learn how to make your own corn tortillas with the University Farm’s Food Program Team! A beautiful, locally grown Glass Gem variety of corn, sometimes called flint corn or maize, has been grown at the University Farm for the past two years and is perfect for making a wide array of corn dishes.
Join us Friday, Nov. 8, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the CWRU Teaching Kitchen in the Robbins Building located at 2210 Circle Dr. to learn how we harvest and dry our corn, to be enjoyed all year long. Participants will learn how to process dried corn to increase its nutritional value (Nixtamalization), tortilla-making techniques, and various other uses for the corn.
The event will be primarily hands-on, giving participants time to make their own tortillas to take home and taste other delicious seasonal vegetables that the University Farm has to offer!
