“Technography: Using Ethnography in Highly Technical Spaces to Reduce Social Harm”

The Department of Anthropology will host Nichole Carelock for its 2022–23 Applying Anthropology to Real World Problems Lecture Thursday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom.

Carelock, a qualitative researcher at Meta, will present “Technography: Using Ethnography in Highly Technical Spaces to Reduce Social Harm.”

She will discuss how anthropological skills including ethnography are employed to help understand human-technology interactions. Her talk will draw on her experiences working at Meta and as a special technology focused project director on the presidential transition.

This lecture is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
