Student Medical Plan waiver process changes for spring semester

Students will encounter changes to the Student Medical Plan waiver process beginning during spring semester.

The university’s goal is to ensure that students have medical benefits that will help them stay healthy during their time at Case Western Reserve University and to safeguard that they have access to appropriate medical care should a situation arise.

All students who are enrolled in one or more credit hours are required to have health insurance during their time at CWRU. Students are enrolled automatically in CWRU’s Student Medical Plan; the fee has been placed on their account. However, those who have health insurance coverage comparable to the Student Medical Plan may elect to waive this fee.

The fee for Spring 2016 is $880. For more information about the plan, visit students.case.edu/medicalplan/1516/.

Beginning spring semester 2016, students will have to answer several questions regarding their current medical plan to certify that the student has comparable coverage and is eligible to waive CWRU’s Student Medical Plan.

Case Western Reserve students can waive the Student Medical Plan on the SIS in the Finance section of the Student Center. To log in to SIS, visit case.edu/sis.
