In honor of Engineers Week, several events will be held across campus from Friday, Feb. 22, to Friday, March 1.

WISER Lightbulb Drop

Feb. 22
12:45 to 2 p.m.
Kelvin Smith Library

This event allows participants to take a break from classes and showcase their engineering skills in a friendly competition with the opportunity to earn prize money from the Case Alumni Association.

Engineering Challenges Carnival

Feb. 23
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thwing Center, Ballroom

Case Western Reserve students will demonstrate hands-on, interactive engineering and science activities for kids of all ages. Registration is not required.

Parking will be available on the street as well as the campus center garage.

CWRUBotix Game Night

Feb. 23
6 to 8 p.m.
Thwing Center, Room 101

Attendees can play a variety of board, card and video games, including a modified version of field hockey with CWRUBotix’s maze-following robot, Sunny. Attendees are also encouraged to bring any of their own games.

Snacks will be provided.

NSBE Black Inventors Challenge

Feb. 24
6 to 8 p.m.
Thwing Center, Room 101

The National Society of Black Engineers welcomes the campus community to attend this interactive event to learn more about the achievements of black inventors. Attendees also will be challenged to channel creative energy and make a unique creation. All materials will be provided. Prizes will be awarded to most creative teams.

SHPE Ship Challenge

Feb. 25
1 to 3 p.m.
Sears Library Building, Room 409

Those who think they have what it takes to be the best ship-builder at Case Western Reserve are welcome to participate in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers’ Ship Challenge.

Attendees will enjoy free Taco Bell as well as the chance to win free gift cards and a Google Home Mini.

Phi Sigma Rho: RePlay for Kids

Feb. 25
6-8 p.m.
Wade Commons, Pioneer Room

Phi Sigma Rho will host a RePlay for Kids event where students can come and modify toys for kids with disabilities.

Jolly Scholar Trivia Night

Feb. 26
6:30 to 9 p.m.
The Jolly Scholar

Unwind with friends at the Jolly Scholar while testing trivia knowledge.

Free food and beverages will be served.

BMES Post-grad and Co-op Fair

Feb. 28
4 to 5 p.m.
Tinkham Veale University Center, Senior Classroom

The Biomedical Engineering Society Post-grad and Co-op Fair will provide undergraduate students an opportunity to network with industry professionals. Taking place before the banquet reception, students can get a head start speaking to representatives and learn more about opportunities after graduation specifically for biomedical engineering majors.

Engineers Week Reception

Feb. 28
5 to 9 p.m.
Tinkham Veale University Center

Students, faculty, alumni and corporate sponsors will come together to celebrate engineering achievements.

Adriana Velazquez Berumen (GRS ’86, biomedical engineering), the senior advisor of medical devices at the World Health Organization, will give the keynote lecture at this year’s reception.

SWE Luncheon

March 1

Hovorka Atrium

The Society of Women Engineers section at Case Western Reserve University will host its annual luncheon during Engineers Week. Attendees will hear from Roxanne Kaufman Elliot, the founder and president of ProLaureate Ltd., a firm dedicated to helping people and organizations transform their lives, careers and businesses through leadership. In addition to her corporate endeavors, Kaufman Elliot has served as a business coach in Case Western Reserve University’s entrepreneurial program within the Weatherhead School of Management.

Dress for this event is business casual. With any food concerns, contact Carolyn Miller at cam261@case.edu.
