Influenced by the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), recent years have witnessed an increasing awareness and recognition of the importance of children’s right to participation in various spheres of life. Nevertheless, questions still remain about children’s participation in the field of child maltreatment.
Join the Schubert Center for Child Studies to learn more about the link between children’s right to participation, child maltreatment and the child welfare process in an upcoming lecture, “Children’s Right to Participation: A New Role for Children in the Field of Child Maltreatment and Child Welfare,” led by Hanita Kosher.
The lecture will include two parts:
- First, the historical and philosophical background of children’s right to participation will be addressed; and
- Second, three roles of children’s right to participation with regard to child maltreatment will be discussed.
Kosher is the academic director of Haruv USA, an international training center for professionals in the field of child maltreatment located at the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa. Since 2016, Kosher has been a faculty member at the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The lecture will take place Thursday, Feb. 17, at 4 p.m. (EST) via Zoom. Register to attend.
