The Laura and Alvin Siegal Lifelong Learning Program’s Continuing Studies Division is offering a sampling and audio recording basics workshop on campus Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Instructor Ken Wendt, musical artist and multimedia specialist, will cover:
- The fundamentals of audio recording and sampling;
- Changing the speed and pitch of samples;
- Creating instruments to play back re-pitched samples;
- Slicing samples; and
- Applying audio effects such as delay, reverb and EQ to further process your samples.
Students will leave with the skills required to start recording and editing their own samples along with additional creative applications to use in making their own music.
The workshop, open to the Case Western Reserve University community, will be held at the CORE Computer Lab in Hadyn Hall, Room 16 (11118 Bellflower Road). Space is limited to 10 people. The workshop costs $200; there is a 25% discount for CWRU undergraduate students.
