From ancient times to present day, Jewish communities have lived as minorities amidst a foreign majority population. In this environment, Jews have had to navigate the challenges of fitting in and ensuring their own physical and economic security while finding ways to preserve their integrity and continuity as an independent group. Siegal Lifelong Learning Program will host a course to explore a number of historical examples of Diaspora communities.
The program’s executive director, Brian Amkraut, will lead this remote course Tuesdays from April 2 to 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. ET.
Topics covered will include cases where multiple strategies are seemingly employed at one time to address the challenges faced by these communities.
