Join RePlay for Kids to fix toys for children with disabilities at a workshop Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Stephanie Tubbs Jones Residence Hall’s multipurpose room.
To provide agencies that work with children with disabilities toys that function for children’s needs, RePlay for Kids volunteers repair:
- battery-powered toys designed for children with disabilities;
- external switches that children use to operate the toys; and
- other battery-powered assistive devices, such as communication aids and educational devices.
In these workshops, volunteers repair as many toys, switches and assistive devices as possible in a two-hour period. Workshop activities often involve simple repairs such as a broken wire or corroded battery terminal. Repaired items are checked for safe operation prior to being returned to the agencies.
