Reminder: Apply for fall 2019 Mentor Fellows program by May 1

Faculty are invited to apply for the Office of Faculty Development’s Mentor Fellows Program for the fall 2019 semester. The program is a semester-long, seminar-type course in which faculty read and discuss research literature on mentoring and learn how to apply those lessons in their own mentoring relationships. Readings and assignments will take about two hours per week.

The sessions will be held Wednesdays from 12:45 to 2 p.m. in Thwing Center’s Cleveland Room from Aug. 28 to Dec. 4. Lunch will be provided at each session.

Those who successfully complete the program will receive a grant of $2,500 to be used at their discretion for academic purposes from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2020.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 1. Applications should consist of a one-page biography containing contact information and education and employment history in addition to a one-page cover letter including:

  • Number of master’s/doctoral students the applicant serves as principal dissertation supervisor;
  • Other people mentored and in what capacity;
  • Experience with mentoring;
  • What mentoring issues are of concern to the applicant; and
  • Reasons for wanting to participate in the program.
