Promotion and tenure information workshop and luncheon

The Office of Faculty Development will host a tenure and promotion information session for tenure-track, tenured and non-tenure track faculty Wednesday, March 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Senior Classroom. Faculty members who anticipate a tenure-track position someday are also welcome to attend the session.

The typical criteria for tenure and promotion are scholarship, teaching and service. All universities subscribe to this but how these terms are interpreted can vary from institution to institution, school to school, and even department to department. Learning how they are applied and measured at Case Western Reserve University is an important aspect of becoming familiar with the culture of the institution.

The following university leaders will attend this session to share what the university is looking for, how you should set about preparing your case for tenure or promotion, and to answer questions:

  • Provost and Executive Vice President Joy Ward
  • Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Academic and Faculty Affairs Don Feke;
  • Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Academic and Faculty Affairs Chuck Rozek; and
  • Special Assistant to the Provost Lindsay Jacobs.

Immediate questions and concerns can be directed to the Office of Faculty Development through email at facdev@case.edu. For those who cannot attend in person, a Zoom invitation will be provided.

Register to attend.

Two related sessions with a panel of CWRU faculty members who have recently received promotion or tenure will be offered in April:

  • Tenure-Track Promotion and Tenure Faculty Panel Dialogue: Friday, April 12
  • Non-Tenure Track Promotion Faculty Panel Dialogue: Friday, April 19
