Professional Development Center to host several trainings in May

Each month, the Professional Development Center provides training sessions for Case Western Reserve University faculty and staff on a wide range of topics.

DiSC Series Part II: “Directing & Delegating Using DiSC”

Tuesday, May 14
9 a.m. to noon

Giving employees direction and delegating them new tasks is a vital component of managing others. In this three-hour course, attendees will learn about the importance of delegating to others, what kind of support different DiSC styles may need with new projects and how to talk about directing and delegating with different DiSC styles.

Supervisor Orientation

8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Supervisor Orientation is a day-long series of workshops offered every other month aimed at providing new CWRU supervisors with the skills and knowledge necessary to start their new roles successfully. The orientation is the first part of a year-long new supervisor onboarding process that includes monthly networking lunches, trainings and more. Those who sign up for this Supervisor Orientation agree to be a part of the year-long Supervisor Onboarding Program. All staff and faculty who have recently started their first CWRU supervisory are welcome to attend, whether or not they have previous supervisory experience. This includes external hires, internal hires and internal promotions.

DiSC Series Part III: “Creating a Motivating Environment”

Motivated employees are more productive, effective and satisfied in their roles. While it is challenging to directly motivate people, this course will teach attendees how to create environments where people are more likely to be motivated. Participants will learn about some of the research behind motivation and how to communicate most effectively with different DiSC styles to create a motivating environment.
