Professors will advise new Senior Vice President for Research and Technology Management Michael Oakes on campus strengths and untapped potential
President Eric W. Kaler today announced two faculty groups that will advise inaugural Senior Vice President for Research and Technology Management Michael Oakes on the university’s research strengths and untapped potential. Importantly, these groups also will provide input on how to better meet faculty members’ research administrative needs.
“I am grateful to the diverse faculty who have agreed to serve on these groups,” President Kaler said. “They are an invaluable resource for Michael as he leads the university in expanding its research enterprise.”
Each of the Faculty Strategy Groups on Research and Technology Management comprises related disciplines: one group includes members from engineering, physical and natural sciences, health sciences and applied social sciences; the other focuses on social sciences, humanities and performing arts. The strategy groups will meet twice a month during this academic year.
“I look forward to engaging these two incredibly impressive groups of faculty members,” Oakes said. “Together, we will take research at Case Western Reserve to the next level.”
President Kaler sought input from the deans and Faculty Senate leadership to create groups with individuals who reflect our diverse campus community and will represent the interests of our departments, schools and fields of study. President Kaler added: “Together we will go far.”
