The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity (OIDEO) announced the Spring 2012 Power of Diversity Lecture Series speakers.
The spring series kicks off Feb. 7 with “The Biochemistry of Life: A Model of Diversity” by Emmitt Jolly, assistant professor in the Department of Biology and adjunct assistant professor at the Center for Global Health and Disease. The lecture will take place Feb. 7, 3-4:30 p.m., in Thwing Center’s 1914 Lounge.
Next up: Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space and the founder and president of two medical technology companies, will lecture on March 27 at 4:30 p.m. in the Wolstein Research Building.
Joy R. Bostic, assistant professor in the Department of Religious Studies, will close out the lecture series with “Justice-Making and the Beloved Community: The Power of Diversity in University Circle.” Her lecture will be held April 2, 3-4:30 p.m., in Thwing Center’s Spartan Room.
