Players’ Theatre Group will offer three performances of its production of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
The performances will be held today (April 28) at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Black Box at Eldred Theater.
The plot of Macbeth is:
A brave Scottish general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by ambition and spurred to action by his wife, Macbeth murders King Duncan and takes the Scottish throne for himself. Forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion, he soon becomes a tyrannical ruler. The bloodbath and consequent civil war swiftly take Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of madness and death.
Players’ Theatre Group will take a modern approach to this Shakespearean classic. This production will be set in the modern day and deal with U.S. federal politics, while retaining Shakespeare’s genius language.
The shows are free, but there is a suggested $5 donation.
