Periodontics’ Leena Palomo discusses gum disease risk research

Postmenopausal women may be at risk of gum disease

HealthDay: Leena Palomo, associate professor of periodontics, explained her study, which showed that postmenopausal women who are at an increased risk for broken bones may also be at risk for gum disease. “More investigations are needed, but the FRAX (Fracture Risk Assessment) tool score can potentially be used as a way to find women at risk for gum disease,” she said.
