Office of Faculty Development to offer writing workshop series for early-stage faculty

The CAREER program is one of the most prestigious funding mechanisms offered by the National Science Foundation that is focused on supporting junior faculty’s educational and academic program development in a concerted way. This funding mechanism is more nuanced than typical research grants.

The Office of Faculty Development offers a biweekly workshop series during the spring semester that specifically focuses on elements that render a CAREER application competitive. The workshop series is led by an academic writing expert and supplemented with contributions from faculty who were awarded CAREER grants in recent years. The workshop culminates with a draft proposal after the final exams, which is then routed to mock review and copy-editor. Many past participants have benefited from this program and proceeded to secure this prestigious award.

Faculty members who are planning to submit or resubmit applications for summer 2022 can contact facdev@cwru.edu with questions, and to sign up for the writing workshop.
