University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University receive $2.8M grant to study Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

Spectrum NewsPeter MacFarlane, associate professor and director of neonatology basic research at the School of Medicine, discussed a new grant to investigate Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), the leading cause of infant deaths. Researchers will use a new model to study abnormal proteins and cells in the brainstem and carotid body, aiming to uncover causes and test a drug that could potentially prevent SIDS cases.
