Cleveland is investing more than ever in violence prevention. Will it be enough?
cleveland.com: Dan Flannery, director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education, said that Cleveland’s existing violence prevention strategy is largely on the right track but may need an update because of how severely COVID-19 disrupted existing efforts and harmed young people’s mental health. “You have things that might be targeted to individual persons, you have things that might be within families,” Flannery said. “But you also can’t try to do everything for everyone with limited resources, so your approach needs to be targeted to a particular population, a particular neighborhood, a particular problem, related to how things fit into your plan.”
