Learn the basics of using a hoop house or high tunnel for growing plants

The University Farm will host several virtual installments of a “Hoop House Basics/High Tunnel Basics” course this summer.

In the course, participants will learn:

  • How to grow within a high tunnel in our climate during the changing seasons;
  • Different techniques to take advantage of the space, such as vertical growing;
  • The timing to maximize efficiency with fall crops; and
  • How to deal with the challenges that also come with growing in the tunnel.

The course also will include some information on the basics of farming, but within that specific environment.

The course will be offered on the following Thursdays:

Each session will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Matt Burtonshaw, of the Farm Food Program, will lead the courses.
