How do sacred Jewish texts influence pop culture? Find out at upcoming lecture

The Bible continues to influence Israeli culture, even in the rock, hip-hop and rap music scene.

Learn how pop stars are mining sacred Jewish texts to provide an unexpected window into Israeli art forms, both secular and Jewish, at “Hip-Hoppin’ Jews: on the Bible and Israeli Pop Music.”

The talk, presented by Shari Lowin, associate professor of religious studies at Stonehill College, is a Siegal Lifelong Learning Program lecture that will take place Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at the Siegal Facility in Beachwood.

The lecture is free to attend, but an optional dinner will be available before the event at 6 p.m. for $36.

To register for either option, call 216.368.2091, or visit siegallifelonglearning.org/hip-hoppin-jews-on-the-bible-and-israeli-pop-music.html.
