Learn how to safely forage at the University Farm

Nature continues to hold a variety of treasures, even as summer winds down. Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to join the University Farm’s Farm Food Program for a three-session workshop on foraging.

Participants will go on a walking adventure and learn how to safely identify, sustainably harvest, and prepare the flora and fungi found in the University Farm forests.

This workshop involves three sessions, each with a hike to discover nature’s bounty in the wild. Participants will meet on three Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.:

  • Aug. 26
  • Sept. 2
  • Sept. 9

Participants should be prepared for a large amount of walking through the woods on uneven ground, and dress for the weather. Boots or hiking shoes, long pants, water bottles, insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended.
