Information Technology Services, in partnership with the Division of Finance, will offer ABCs of Financials—a required class in the Case Western Reserve University Administrative Professional Series (CAPS)—on Friday, May 15, from 11 a.m. to noon in Nord Hall, Room 213.
ABCs of Financials will provide attendees with a basic understanding of the accounting structure, system and concepts used to manage the daily financial transactions and flow of money at the university. New features and processes associated with version 9.2 of PeopleSoft Financials also will be discussed. During this class, participants will:
- Review basic accounting concepts and how they relate to fiscal responsibilities at CWRU.
- Discuss chartfields and how they function in the CWRU accounting system.
- Define the role of the General Ledger.

CAPS provides training to university employees on the policies and procedures that direct their stewardship of university funds. Some CAPS courses are required for individuals seeking access to specific modules of PeopleSoft Financials.
Employees may complete one course or the entire curriculum. Employees who complete the entire CAPS curriculum are eligible to test for the Certificate of Achievement in Financial Management.
