Learn about beekeeping in University Farm course this winter

Squire Valleevue and Valley Ridge Farms will offer a beekeeping course this winter.

Two people beekeepingIn conjunction with the farm administration, Richard Manley, University Farm beekeeping consultant for more than five years, will teach the “ABCs of Honey Bees.”

The course will cover all aspects of beginning beekeeping, honeybee biology and diseases, and hive management.

Weather permitting, students will be able to participate in hives inspection, including observation of brood, honey and pollen cells.

The one-day, four-hour course will be offered Saturday, Feb. 18, and Saturday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The course fee is $48 per participant. A minimum of six participants will be required to offer course.
