Appeals court ruling threatens to unravel Consumer Protection Bureau The Washington Times: Jonathan Adler, the Johan Verheij Memorial Professor of Law, said a federal appeals court’s decision against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is poised to chill the agency’s financial oversight authority and potentially undermine much of what it already does. “The decision is a big deal in that it will suggest that the CFPB can’t take enforcement actions until Congress fixes its funding,” Adler said. “It’s another blow to the CFPB.” |
