The CWRU Baroque Chamber Ensembles will present La Susanna, a disturbingly vivid oratorio by 17th-century composer Alessandro Stradella.
Resonating with today’s #MeToo movement, this work tells the Old Testament tale of Susanna, a beautiful and pious woman who is confronted with guilt and shame after warding off two lecherous elders.
Susan McClary, professor of music and head of musicology, and lutenist Charles Weaver will join the group as guest directors.
The event will take place Friday, Oct. 26, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Harkness Chapel.
