This month, Case Western Reserve University hosts its annual homecoming celebration, bringing together students, families and alumni on campus. In honor of the many graduates who have helped shape the university and their respective industries, we will highlight a few of our outstanding alumni this month.
Throughout her career, JoAnn E. Manson (MED ’79) has stood at the forefront of women’s health. She played key roles in several studies that have advanced women’s health, including one that revealed that women and men may have different reactions to drugs.
Manson is chief of preventive medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a professor at Harvard Medical School.
Manson’s research also has delved into lifestyle factors, micronutrient supplementation, and hormone replacement therapy and how they may contribute to chronic disease in women.
