Did You Know: High-profile campus events in 2017

As 2017 comes to a close, we’re taking time to reflect on this year—a time packed with significant university news, key research advancements and high-profile events on campus.

Did you know that in 2017, we welcomed a number of leading thinkers—from authors to distinguished alumni—to our campus, including:

  • Margot Lee Shetterly, author of Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race;
  • Henry Louis Gates, a professor, literary critic and filmmaker who most recently wrote, produced and narrated the series Finding Your Roots;
  • Trevor Noah, comedian and host of The Daily Show;
  • John Green, New York Times bestselling author of Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars;
  • Fred Gray (LAW ’54), the celebrated civil rights attorney who represented Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., victims of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study and more;
