“I’m the Owner, How Can I Be the Caregiver Too—A Daughter’s Journey”

Many faculty and staff members may need to find outside care for an aging loved one. To help arm those in caregiving roles with the best information, the Wellness Program will host a discussion titled “I’m the Owner, How Can I Be the Caregiver Too—A Daughter’s Journey” Friday, Nov. 8, at 12:30 p.m. in the Mandel Community Studies Center, Room 108.

Drawing from her personal experience as the owner of a homecare agency, Connie Hill-Johnson will discuss the differences between a home health care agency and a non-medical/custodial homecare agency. Attendees will learn about valuable tools to use when identifying the best agency for specific eldercare situations. In addition, Hill-Johnson will share her personal journey of caring for an aging parent with dementia and navigating care issues while wearing her “provider” and “daughter” hats.
