Host a program at New Student Orientation

Orientation Programs flyerOrientation events give new students a chance to learn more about Case Western Reserve University’s resources, programs and activities, as well as discover the rich traditions and diverse opportunities offered. The Office of First-Year Experience and Family Programs (FYEFP) is excited to offer your offices, departments and organizations the opportunity to host a program.

All submissions should enable FYEFP to meet its mission and the goals of New Student Orientation. Furthermore, submissions should hold relevance to new students prior to the first week of classes. FYEFP encourages offices, departments and organizations to work with others around campus to present on similar topics or ideas. If you need assistance with collaboration, please contact us.

To ensure diversity in programs and connection to the goals of New Student Orientation, selections will be made based on this evaluation rubric. All selected proposals will be assigned to work with a member of FYEFP to facilitate the coordination of the program.

The goals of New Student Orientation are to:

  • Provide opportunities for new students to engage with faculty, staff and fellow new and upper-class students
  • Connect new students with University Circle and the Greater Cleveland Area
  • Equip new students to navigate the policies, procedures, and resources of their living and learning environments
  • Cultivate an inclusive environment that celebrates the diversity of our institution
  • Encourage new students to explore the history, traditions, and values of the campus community

Important Dates:

  • Friday, March 6—Online applications due
  • Friday, March 20—Notification of decisions
  • Friday, March 27—Program acceptance
  • Friday, April 10—Informational meeting for selected presenters
  • Wednesday, Aug. 19-Sunday, Aug. 23—Conference-style format of selected presentations, programs and activities
