It seems the campus community was stumped by Monday’s Guess Where, which featured the top half of an ornate lamppost.
This lamppost and three identical others are located at the entrances to Allen Memorial Medical Library, one of which leads to Ford Auditorium. The lamppost pictured is to the left of the Euclid Avenue entrance.
Allen Memorial Medical Library has stood on the southeast corner of Euclid Avenue and Adelbert Road since 1925. The neoclassical building, which houses the Dittrick Museum of Medical History, is both a Cleveland Designated Landmark and part of the National Register of Historic Places. Its pink marble steps are perhaps more recognizable than its bronze ornaments, as only 11 percent of participants guessed correctly.
