Fifth annual Steps4Staff set for Oct. 3

walkerFor the fifth straight year, members of the university community can do well for others and themselves Friday afternoon by taking part in Steps4Staff, a joint effort of the Staff Advisory Council (SAC) and the Office of Human Resources.

Steps4Staff is an annual fundraiser in which all proceeds go to the SAC Staff Educational Enhancement Fund.  Staff can apply to the program to secure financial support for textbooks, off-campus courses, conferences, workshops and other activities that allow them to develop new professional skills.

Rather than merely ask for donations, though, Steps4Staff also attempts to encourage wellness and foster community among staff and faculty across the campus. This year participants will meet at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, in front of Adelbert Gym and walk around campus and Uptown (or, if weather is inclement, inside the gym). Part of the walk will include updates regarding new businesses open and planned within Uptown.

“Steps4Staff is an opportunity to gather with colleagues [and] include exercise in your day,” Senior Vice President for Administration John D. Wheeler said. “I encourage supervisors to attend this event, and to give their employees time to participate.”

Registration for Steps4Staff is $15, and all of those who register will receive a “Hydrate” water bottle.
