Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to join event titled “Eroding Mass Incarceration: Pursuing Abolitionism in Ohio” Monday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Community Studies Center, Room 115C.
Attendees will learn about the Western Reserve Abolitionist Project and hear from local leaders and activists as they discuss the prison industrial complex.
Speakers include:
- Malika Kidd, program director for Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry;
- Chazidy Bowman, president of Opportunities People’s Justice Leaders;
- Melekte Melaku, organizing strategist for the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio;
- Chrissy Stonebraker-Martinez, community organizer, part of Cuyahoga County Jail Coalition; and
- Damian Calvert, Cleveland community organizer, Building Freedom Ohio.
