Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are invited to join the Siegal Lifelong Learning Program for an upcoming lecture titled “Drugs from Nature” Thursday, March 7, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Landmark Centre Building, Suite 100 (25700 Science Park Dr., Beachwood).
Matthew Bertin, the Gilles and Malvina Klopman Assistant Professor in Chemistry, will discuss successes and limitations of finding drugs from nature, including examples of clinically used drugs (aspirin, taxol, etc.) with natural origins. Additionally, content will include traditional medicines and ethnobotany and how scientists have looked to cultural anthropology for inspiration in pharmaceutical development.
