Dhamakapella posing with runner-up award at the ICCA quarterfinals 2019

Dhamakapella named runner-up in ICCA Midwest Quarterfinals, advances to semifinals

Case Western Reserve University’s South Asian fusion a cappella team, Dhamakapella, was runner-up in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Midwest Quarterfinal, qualifying the group to advance to the Midwest Semifinal.

In addition, Dhamakapella’s beatboxer, Lewis Orr, was awarded Outstanding Vocal Percussion.

This was Dhamakapella’s first time competing in the ICCA competition, as the group typically performs in the competitive South Asian fusion circuit. The ICCA competitions are not dedicated to any particular style of a cappella.

Dhamakapella will compete in the Midwest Semifinal March 30 at Washington University in St. Louis.
