Dhamakapella, Case Western Reserve University’s premier South Asian fusion a cappella team, took home first place from two recent competitions.
At the Steel City Sapna in Pittsburgh Saturday, Feb. 5, the team received first-place honors. Additionally, Anusha Mudigonda received an individual award for Outstanding Arrangement and Vivek Kapur won an individual award for Outstanding Vocal Percussion.
Then, at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Midwest Quarterfinal conducted by Varsity Vocals Feb. 12 at the Maltz Performing Arts Center at CWRU, the team again came in first place among 8 other a cappella teams in the midwest region.
Anusha Mudigonda won an individual award for Outstanding Arrangement and Kasey Pukys and Jennifer Huang for earned an award for Outstanding Choreography.
With the win at the ICCA Midwest Quarterfinal, the team qualified to compete at the ICCA Midwest Semifinal March 26.
