Dhamakapella will host Crescendo, the group’s spring concert, Thursday, April 13, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center ballroom.
Dhamakapella is a South-Asian fusion a cappella group at the university. Dhamakapella creates and performs arrangements that blend English and Bollywood songs, weaving elements from both genres to produce new music.
Representing CWRU at intercollegiate competitions around the nation, Dhamakapella has been awarded seven national titles since they first began competing in 2009. Over the past few years, Dhamakapella also has released two studio albums and two professionally produced music videos.
The spring concert also will feature exhibition performances by Spartan Bhangra, a cultural dance troupe that celebrates the vibrant traditional folk dance of Punjab, India, and Nritya, the university’s premier competitive classical dance team, which fuses centuries-old Indian origin dance to contemporary music from around the globe.
