On New Year’s Day in 1941, the Western Reserve University football team played in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. This game marked the only time that either Western Reserve University or the Case Institute of Technology would play in a college football bowl game.
Western Reserve University won the game 26-13.
On Monday, we asked if you knew who the team’s opponent was.
The answer was the Arizona State Teachers College, which would later become Arizona State University.
Just over a third of respondents guessed either Arizona State Teachers College or Arizona State University; a popular guess was Ohio State University.
