Smith Professor in the Liberal Arts, and professor and chair of the Department of Art History and Art, discussed her direction of the conservation of the Red Monastery Coptic church, described as “the most important extant early Christian monument in Egypt’s Nile Valley, and one of the most significant of its period in the Mediterranean region.”
