“Canal to Cuyahoga: Everlasting Plastics in Context”

Join the Department of Art History and Art for “Canal to Cuyahoga: Everlasting Plastics in Context.” This event, set to take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at Cleveland Museum of Art, explores topics of a plastic future, the rising global environmental crisis of plastic pollution, the history and emergence of plastic as an industrial and home product, and how artists have engaged with plastic as a medium for critiquing and raising awareness.

The event offers the opportunity to hear directly from the artists and curators about how they each addressed the topic of a plastic future. The event will begin with a roundtable discussion. There will be various related workshops partnered with different organizations in Cleveland, and a keynote address by Katie Schaag.
