The 21st century understanding of Pan-Africanism remains exclusively tied to the African continent, specifically leaving out Afro-diasporic subjects, especially in Europe. Today, a new movement of Black European youths are fighting against racial discrimination and for an Afro-European political identity. Afro-European Pan-Africanism as marking new diasporic linkages and movements of Black Europeans of African and Afro-Caribbean descent.
The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program will host an upcoming lecture exploring this topic Tuesday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This lecture will be given in-person at Landmark Centre Building (25700 Science Park Dr.) and virtually via Zoom.
Omar Dieng, a postdoctoral scholar in the Humanities in Leadership Learning Series (HILLS), will present “Afro-European Pan Africanism: A 21st Century Black Europeans’ Mobilizations.”
