The Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable—cleverly nicknamed WISER—is a campus organization for women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics or medicine (STEMM).
Throughout the year, WISER hosts events and activities designed to support CWRU women in STEMM fields by promoting discussion of their experiences, fostering professional development and establishing a strong community. The group also volunteers with community outreach programs, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland, CleSTEM Festival, Girls Who Code, Black Girls Code, Latina Girls Code and Techbridge Girls.
Though many of its members are current students, both undergraduate and graduate, WISER has a significant alumnae network. Some of these alumnae are still connected to the group, serving as advisers and mentors to current members.
WISER even has its own lounge in the Sears Library Building, Room 545, where members are encouraged to use the space to relax, study or connect with fellow women in STEMM.
