Woman with eyes closed and hands at face, looking stressed

“Caregiver Stress and Compassion Fatigue”

Whether good or bad, we all experience stress. This is particularly true for professional caregivers, especially as decreased funding can lead to higher caseloads and longer hours for many caregivers. Finding a balance and setting healthy boundaries makes life easier both at work and at home. Not finding a balance can lead to compassion fatigue.

The Wellness Program and IMPACT Solutions, Case Western Reserve University’s employee assistance program, will offer a class to assist faculty and staff who may be dealing with caregiver stress and compassion fatigue.

The program, titled “Caregiver Stress and Compassion Fatigue,” will look at:

  • Traumatic and non-traumatic stress;
  • The signs and symptoms of each;
  • What leads to compassion fatigue; and
  • Possible interventions for each.

The program will be offered Friday, March 8, at 12:30 p.m. in Biomedical Research Building, Room 105.
